Training

Training of your players is divided into two parts: team training and individual training. Individual training develops specific skills, while team training enhances team cohesion. It is up to you to decide which is the most suitable for your players!

If you do not want to manage training yourself, you can set Training management to Automatic in the settings: your staff will then train the players for you.

Training schedule

On the Training page, you can set:

  • The hours of training per day (up to 6 hours).
  • The hours of training the day before and the day after games.
  • Whether your players train during vacation.
  • The share between team training and individual training.

You can also save your settings with Export Training Program and reuse them with Load Training Program.

Intensity

Team and individual training each have an intensity: Very low, Low, Normal, High or Very high. A higher intensity makes training more effective and improves fitness, but it also tires your players and increases the risk of injury.

Be careful: if training is too hard, your players will complain about it. A coach with a good Training attribute will keep them satisfied more easily (see Coach Attributes).

Individual training

For each player, you can select a priority, either a profile or a single skill:

  • Profiles: Playmaker, Rebounder, Perimeter shooter, Inside finisher, Mid-range shooter, Slasher, Perimeter defender, Post defender.
  • Specific: focus on one skill only.
  • Other position: learn to play at a second position.
  • Rest: the player skips training to recover.

Your assistant coach will take care of the individual training for players who have not been assigned a training program.

Fitness, tiredness and injuries

Fitness and tiredness have a direct impact on players during a game, as well as on the risk of injury. Training improves fitness, but long or intense sessions add fatigue. You can check the forecasted freshness and fitness of your players before the next games.

The risk of injury during training increases with tiredness, poor fitness, intensity, the number of hours and the player's own injury proneness. Make good use of the preseason to make sure that your players start the season in the best possible condition!

Your fitness coaches and physiotherapists will help your players get in shape and recover faster (see Staff).

Player progression

Many factors affect how fast a player improves:

  • Age: young players progress much faster. As they get older, players mostly improve their best skills, and veterans will see their physical attributes start to decline.
  • Potential: it also limits the level a player can reach.
  • Fitness, fatigue and work ethic.
  • Hours and intensity of training.
  • Your coaching staff: the Training attribute of your coach and assistants, and the Teaching attribute for young players.
  • Your facilities: see the Training Center and Youth Academy on the Facilities page.
  • Playing time: players also improve by playing games, especially against stronger opponents.
